Questionnaire

Understanding the Recruiting Game

  • "Around the Ivy League, between 50 and 60 percent of all recruited athletes are now accepted under early decision programs, compared to 30 to 40 percent of the general applicant pool. This is a trend that reflects both the increasing popularity of Early Decision as an option for all applicants, and the pressure on kids to commit to a coach, get on the (recruiting) list, and take their best shot at getting in."*
  • "Beginning with the class admitted in 2003, the NESCAC presidents, like their Ivy brethren, agreed to enforce limits on the number of athletic recruits who can be admitted to each school annually."* The athletic recruiting landscape can change. Athletes and their families must be informed about recent trends while navigating the recruiting process.
  • As the potential exists for injury or other unforeseen circumstances, the prospective college player must assess a school's academic, social, and overall fit as well as the athletic suitability.

Planning for College Sports

Playing college sports is one of the most rewarding experiences an athlete player can have. The fun and camaraderie, the skills and lessons learned from coaches and teammates, and the pride in representing the school in competition are some of the exciting rewards of college athletics. Yet finding a college that suits the student athlete's academic and athletic goals can be incredibly time consuming and frustrating.  An uninformed decision can lead to four long, dissatisfying years.

If you want to find the right college program and avoid the aggravation and uncertainty typically involved in the process, we can help. Donovan Sports Strategies provides the personal assistance that allows you to find the institution that best fits your unique goals and preferences.  Our objective is to provide you with the knowledge and resources necessary to assume control of your search in a distinctive and responsible way--allowing you to make the best and most informed decision possible.
